1. Evaluate your health and well-being goals. When striving for optimum health and well-being, you want a chiropractor who will work with you to help you achieve the best results in the shortest amount of time. Have a clear picture of what you feel your needs are, and be willing to alter your treatment plans if new issues should arise after your examination.

2. Seek a professional opinion. It is important that your chiropractor offers you a full and thorough examination prior to discussing or implementing any kind of treatment plan. Just because you have an idea of what your health issue may be, does not mean that they should act upon that information without verifying it medically for themselves.

3. Look for a program of monitored progress. You want a chiropractor who will pay attention to and monitor the progress you are making in your treatments. This is important because it will give you and your doctor an idea of which treatments are working, and which are not. Your program may then be adjusted to help you reach optimum health and healing.

4. Request an x-ray examination. While many spinal issues can be diagnosed by an in-depth office examination, some issues can be difficult to properly diagnose without the aid of an x-ray. You want to be sure to have the most thorough information available on the actual state of your physical body before beginning your chiropractic treatments.

5. Check the chiropractor’s references. It may take some extra time, but it will be well-worth the effort to check online for chiropractor reviews, feedback and with the state chiropractic board for any grievances or complaints (as well as glowing recommendations) that have been posted regarding your chiropractor.

Whether you have a personal injury, chronic back and neck pain, or would simply like to maintain your overall health, Estner Chiropractic in RI can help…

“I am very pleased with the services that I have received from Dr. Estner and his staff. Thank you so much!” ~ Tatiana D.

When isn’t it a good time to visit a RI chiropractor? Although one of the most common times to visit a chiropractor is after a car accident or injury at work, chiropractic medicine offers more than just pain relief and treatment for traumatic sports and personal injuries, chronic back and neck pain, and other spinal injuries.

Because chiropractic uses an holistic approach to medicine and is a whole body healing practice, you may visit your chiropractor at any time for adjustments and spinal alignments to keep your entire body healthy, strong, and injury free.

Chiropractors have been known to treat such ailments as allergies, administer to sports injuries, workplace injuries, prenatal back pain, pediatric spinal injuries and maintenance, headaches, joint discomfort, circulation issues, and others, to name but a few. Regular visits to your chiropractor will keep you free of many of the most common illnesses and allergies related to seasonal situations.

In addition to maintenance and care of the whole body and spine during periods of peak health, your chiropractor can offer you pain relief from back and neck discomfort during pregnancy or after an injury, and they are particularly well known for alleviating all kinds of pain in the body including but not limited to headaches, spinal pain, and joint pain and discomfort. Because chiropractors do not prescribe drugs for the treatment of pain, they are the perfect solution for children as well.

Infrared light therapy, also called low-level light therapy and cold laser light therapy, uses a focused beam of high energy with low heat to promote healing and alleviate pain. Traditionally, this type of therapy is found in the offices of pain-relief practitioners like chiropractors.

Cold laser light therapy promotes healing by stimulating the cells in an effected area causing them to speed healing through increased circulation and energy. Supporters of infrared light therapy claim that the process has the power to build new cells around areas where cells have died.

The laser only penetrates to a level of approximately 2 or 3 inches into the skin, making this modality an excellent choice for conditions like arthritis, or neck pain from muscle spasm. Because the laser does not penetrate deeper, and will not permeate bone, the treatment has little effect on deep tissue injuries or spinal injuries involving disc degeneration.

Studies regarding the effectiveness of low-level light therapy in pain relief have been inconclusive – mixing other modalities in case studies and revealing nothing about the total effectiveness of light therapy alone. However, for the relief of chronic neck and back pain, and in the alternative to surgery, cold laser therapy offers an affordable, viable, and effective solution.

Scoliosis, or a curvature of the spine, is roughly estimated to effect only 2% of the population, mostly women, and typically starts in early childhood. The disease can be controlled and corrected with various medical treatment options, such as bracing, surgery, or observation.

The main considerations before entering into treatment considerations are the age and maturity of the subject’s spine, the location and degree of the curve, and how likely the curve is to progress or grow more pronounced in later life. Preliminary examinations, including x-rays, the Adam’s Forward Bending Test, range of motion tests, and measurements will help your chiropractor determine the extent of the curvature and refer you to a specialist for further treatment of your scoliosis.

Scoliosis can be caused by several factors later in life as well, including appearing as a side effect of osteoporosis, and degenerative spinal diseases. Although spinal manipulation, physiotherapy, and electric stimulation have not been proven to be effective treatment options, regular chiropractic visits to monitor your scoliosis condition, and physical therapy, regardless of the medical treatment chosen,  is a viable method of maintaining muscle control, mobility, and help to alleviate pain.

Our Cranston Chirpractic office is happy to welcome new patients…

“Thank you for treating me so well, and the staff was very friendly. Thanks again.” Jessenia D.

Our clients are gracious enough to answer a few yes and no questions about our services, and leave us specific feedback allowing us to improve our approach in serving them. A new personal injury accident patient in our Cranston RI office, Joseph Y., had this to say:

Although I have never been to a chiropractor, “my expectations were fully met” by Dr. Estner and his staff. I would recommend Dr. Estner to my friends and family.

Chiropractic treatments help so many patients to live pain-free lives. It’s great when we hear from one of them telling us though….

“I have experienced major lower back pain frequently for the past twenty-four years. During that time I have visited 35 doctors and found no real relief. I then visited you in May of 2011. It is now October 2011 and I have had no major back pain since that one visit. Thank you for helping me to live with less pain.” Leo M., Cranston RI

Everyone knows that chiropractic care is good for the spine right? Well, there are 5 benefits that go along with caring for your spine that are perhaps not as well known, though just as important to your overall feeling of health and wellness.

Having regular chiropractic adjustments can, and often does, eliminate minor issues from becoming major problems. If you are already experiencing pain however, chiropractic treatments will help to drastically reduce your discomfort by realigning the various nerves that have been displaced, and helping to strengthen the muscles of your back, providing better overall support for your entire body. If your spine is not aligned, the rest of your body will be ‘off’ as well.

Chiropractic medicine is a holistic approach to pain relief, body maintenance, injury repair, and overall wellness. As such, there are no harmful, chemical prescription medicines to take. This holistic approach allows patients to use chiropractic in combination with many other healing modalities with no adverse side effects of any kind.

Doctors of Chiropractic have a total body health approach to healing and treatment. Because of this, a visit to the chiropractor may reveal underlying causes for pain or problems that you may not have been aware of, and which can be treated with either chiropractic treatments alone, or any combination of medical procedures you choose.

Chiropractic treatments will severely decrease or eliminate any back, neck or other pain you may be feeling in your spine or certain other parts of your body as well. The pain relieving effects of chiropractic alone are well worth the visit.

And lastly, chiropractic medicine will help in keeping your immune system healthy and in top physical condition. In the majority of studies conducted regarding the effects of chiropractic treatments, patients who maintained a schedule of maintenance with their chiropractor saw a decrease in the duration of illness, or elimination of sickness completely.
