Rhode Island Chiropractic offices: Car Accident, Auto Injury, Back Pain relief

Dr. Stepen M. Estner - Chiropractor

Other than an auto accident, work injury or sports injury, there are several other ways that back injury and back pain can occur. According to WebMD being overweight is one currently widespread precursor to chronic back pain.

The overweight body needs to work much harder in all areas to maintain erect posture and spinal health, with added weight putting an unnecessary strain on the spine and back muscles. This one factor alone can cause untold levels of neck and back pain, however is not the sole reason or source for back pain.

Some other ways that back pain may be created or aggravated include:

High heel shoes
Poor posture habits
An old or low quality mattress
Congenital conditions that involve the spine
Old age
Injury

The combinations of some of these factors are more demanding than others. For instance, if you are approaching old age and have always had poor posture habits, you will be much more likely to experience back pain as you age. Likewise, if you were born with or developed a disease of the spine and then endured an injury of some kind, it will certainly increase any pain and discomfort.

And while no single factor can overcome the other, the care and maintenance of the spine involves a combination of efforts in many areas. If you have a disease or congenital condition, it would be advisable to maintain an exercise program and posture habits to help offset any increase in difficulties later in life. In that regard, healthy practices and overall maintenance of well-being may very well help to offset the discomfort of any potential back pain in the future.

Chiropractic treatments help so many patients to live pain-free lives. It’s great when we hear from one of them telling us though….

“I have experienced major lower back pain frequently for the past twenty-four years. During that time I have visited 35 doctors and found no real relief. I then visited you in May of 2011. It is now October 2011 and I have had no major back pain since that one visit. Thank you for helping me to live with less pain.” Leo M., Cranston RI

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (April 8, 2011) – Fresh off impressive wins in front of a
sold-out crowd at Twin River, two of New England’s biggest names in mixed
martial arts are ready to step back into the cage for arguably the toughest
test of their careers.

Lightweight* Mike “The Beast” Campbell* of Providence, R.I., and Pawtucket,
R.I., middleweight *Todd “The Hulk” Chattelle* return to action *Friday,
April 8th, 2011*, at the Twin River Event Center in Lincoln as Jimmy
Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment & Sports presents “Cage Of Pain.”

Campbell (9-3, 6 KOs) recently knocked out *Mike Medrano* in the opening
round of their rematch at Twin River on Feb. 25 in the main event of CES
“Rhode Rage” show and will now face *Tony “Lionheart” Hervey* (12-9, 8 KOs)
in the main event April 8th, while Chattelle (7-6, 7 KOs), who beat *Woody
“The Dynasty” Weatherby* on the undercard of “Rhode Rage,” will step in
against *Jeff “Scary Nickname” Nader* (4-3, 3 KOs) of Plymouth, Mass.

“Mike and Todd are among the most popular, well-respected fighters on the
mixed martial arts circuit today, and it’s an honor to have them back on
this exciting card on April 8th,” Burchfield said. “Mike took care of
business in a major way on Feb. 25 with a convincing win over Mike Medrano,
proving, once again, why he’s become a household name in this sport.

“And what more can you say about Todd Chattelle? No one gave him a chance
against Woody Weatherby. Woody had wins over UFC veterans on his resume, and
Todd was considered by some to be nothing more than an another opponent, but
on Feb. 25 Todd showed us why you never doubt the heart of a champion,
scoring a major upset victory in front of his loyal fans.

“When you think of CES MMA, you think of competitive fights, sold-out venues
and the best in sports entertainment. We’ve set the bar high, and we’re
committed to raising it even higher each and every time our fighters step
into that cage.”

The undercard of “Cage Of Pain” features welterweight *John Manley* (5-1) of
Uxbridge, Mass./Team Link facing *Jason “Ba Bu” Trzewieczynski* (4-5) of
Lancaster, N.Y./Buffalo Training Center; *Darrius Heyliger* (1-0) of
Courtland, N.Y./Bombsquad facing Brockton, Mass./Cape Cod Fighting Arts
welterweight *Pierry Pierre* (2-1); and Woonsocket, R.I./B+F Boxing
lightweight *Justin Switzer* (0-3) aiming for his first win against *Billy
Walsh* (1-5) of South Burlington, Vt./United Fighting Arts. There are also
three fighters making their professional debuts, including lightweights *Jon
Marcheterre* of Southbridge, Mass./Mixed Breed and *Brandon Rooney* of
Milford, Conn./Ultimate MMA in their respective debuts, and featherweight *Al
Jamain Sterling *of Courtland, N.Y./Bombsquad in his debut against *Matthew
DiMarcantonio* (0-1) of Lancaster, N.Y./Buffalo Training Center.

Last, but certainly not least, middleweight *Adam Quitt* (0-2), a
firefighter from Framingham, Mass., will step into the cage in honor of the
late *Doug Bolanes Jr.*, representing Team Never Surrender and the Doug
Bolanes Foundation. Bolanes Jr., 22, of Framingham died March 10th in an
automobile accident. He fought on two CES shows, including his pro debut in
December of 2010 at Twin River and a knockout win over *Stephen Stengel* at
“Rhode Rage.”

For Campbell (Team Sityodtong/Tim Burrill), this is a major step up in
competition following his impressive win over Medrano. Hervey, who trains
out of Detroit, Mich., with the Stealth Squad, has a deep-rooted background
that also includes two bouts as a professional boxer. Hervey won the King of
the Cage lightweight championship with a win over *Victor Valenzuela* in
2009 and made seven additional appearances on KOTC cards. His most recent
win was a knockout of *Scott Bickerstaff* 17 seconds into the opening round
of their bout at the KOTC: “Underground 56” show in May of 2010. With two
power punchers of this caliber butting heads in the main event, the match-up
between Campbell and Hervey could end with a bang – literally. Campbell
finished off Medrano with a series of left hooks just 1:46 into their
rematch on Feb. 25 and has now knocked out his opponent in three of his last
four victories.

Chattelle’s road to victory April 8th won’t be any easier; Nader lacks
Chattelle’s experience, but has similar power with three knockouts in four
professional wins. All of Nader’s knockout victories have come in the
opening round with the lone exception being a unanimous decision win over
Jose Lopez in 2009. Nader recently handed *Dustin Baker* his first
professional loss via a second-round knockout at CES’ “Cage Of Horrors” show
in October of 2010.

Chattelle’s power could be the equalizer; a knee to the face opened a
vicious cut over Weatherby’s eye in their Feb. 25 showdown, causing the
referee to stop the bout less than a minute into the opening round. To date,
the win over Weatherby is the trademark victory in Chattelle’s career. Nader
trains with the Cape Cod Fighting Arts team while Chattelle represents Team
United.

Tickets for “Cage Of Pain” are $30.00, $50.00 and $100.00 and can be
purchased by calling CES at 401.724.2253/2254, online at www.cesboxing.comor
www.twinriver.com, at the Players Club booth at Twin River, or through any

7.

Kristina J., an Auto Accident Victim reports her chiropractic results with Cranston Chiropractor Dr. Stephen Estner….

I am a community based social worker and my car was totaled by another driver while waiting for the light to change. I instantly became overtaken by the stress of navigating through the police reports and auto insurance industry as well as the pressure of purchasing a new car and getting myself back on the road and caring for my clients again. What I didn’t consider was the amount of physical damage that was done to my body. A couple days later I went from being soar to being frozen and immobile with pain. I located Dr Estner through a web search at 3pm on a Friday. I knew I was taking a gamble by calling so late. Dr Estner answered the phone and the kind voice suggested I come right in. He treated me right away and I was immediately relieved from my pain and able to move about. I had never been treated by a chiropractor before and if I didn’t experience it myself, I wouldn’t have believed the instant results. He then made a call for an x-ray and we made appointments to begin treatment the following week. Upon reviewing the x-rays, I was shocked to find that I would be at his office 3 times a week plus massage therapy for the tissue and muscle damage I incurred. I had been so preoccupied by the damage of my car that I never imagined I had received so much damage myself.

When I think back I can’t help but be so grateful for the kind, warm, thorough treatment I received during such a traumatic time. Dr Estner and his team healed my pain, and eased my stress. I always felt taken care of and important when I was there. I was always greeted with a smile, a friendly face and felt more like a guest then a patient. When I was in a hurry I was seen promptly and was quickly on my way and when I needed to talk, Dr Estner was available to spend extra time to explain my progress. Not only did I return to work quickly but he had me back on the soccer field in no time and I can honestly say I play better now than before the accident. I strongly recommend him to anyone in need of a chiropractor. Dr Estner has become a part of my personal care plan on staying healthy and aware of how important health and well-being is, I cannot imagine where my health would be if I did not make that call. Thank you Dr. Estner.

The spine is comprised of 33 small bones (segments) called vertebrae. Between these segments and holding them together, are ligaments. The spine houses the spinal cord which transmits signals to the rest of the body through nerves that emerge from the spinal cord and travel throughout the body. Damage to any one of the segments of the spine will have serious and detrimental consequences, not just for the rest of the spine, but for the entire body as well.

When one or more segments of the spine sustain damage, depending upon the severity of the damage, they will begin to exert pressure on the nerves emerging from each segment. When this happens, the victim feels pain that may or may not be isolated to the neck and back. Other symptoms may appear in other parts of the body as well, depending upon the nerves that are being pinched by the displaced spinal segment or segments.

In order to alleviate the pain, a chiropractor needs to realign the spine. Chiropractic medicine is based on the belief that when the spine is not aligned, optimum health is not available to the body, and illness and pain will result.

Chiropractors use a combination of electrical muscle stimulation, massage, and spinal adjustments to realign your spine. The adjustments are always performed by the doctor themselves, and may involve a cracking or popping sound. The adjustments help the segments realign and restore the range of motion to the spinal column, reducing any nerve pressure and assisting in the healing process.

If you are experiencing neck or back pain from an automotive or sport injury or leg pain stemming from prolonged back pain, a RI chiropractor may be able to help alleviate or eliminate your pain.

Doctors of chiropractic medicine, focus on whole body wellness and homeopathic approaches to healing. Rather than issue prescriptions for medications and pharmaceuticals, chiropractors offer patients the opportunity to heal their bodies from the inside out using supplements and spinal adjustments to realign the body’s nervous system for optimal health benefits and pain relief.

Chiropractic treatments are particularly successful at eliminating pain caused by spinal trauma from sports injuries, automobile accidents or any other kind of accident involving the spinal cord and musculature surrounding the spine.

A RI Chiropractor will perform various examinations and tests prior to administering a treatment plan with a patient. A chiropractor will perform a physical examination, including an orthopedic exam if necessary, x-rays and other laboratory tests, spinal analysis, and a detailed medical history prior to forming a diagnosis of an injury.

If you are experiencing pain associated with an sport or automobile accident, or are simply feeling back or neck pain due to an everyday overexertion or injury to your spine, a Rhode Island chiropractor will be able to give you relief from your pain.
