Building a Knowledge Base for Your Chiropractic Patients

With everything a busy chiropractor needs to attend to on a daily basis, one area where a tremendous amount of improvement can be seen is patient education. Providing visual and audio learning opportunities for patients of chiropractic care can be one of the most efficient and valuable assets any chiropractor could imagine.

On average, patients who are knowledgeable about their treatment and injuries are better able to maintain a schedule of exercise and remember instructions regarding movements to avoid, etc. Linking visuals with audio, through charts and models while explaining the anatomical functions, is a great way to explain different injuries, why pain happens, and how recovery occurs, while firmly implanting them in the minds of patients.

Also, when a patient can see the physical details of the condition or problem, they are much more likely to understand and follow through with their treatment and any related exercises necessary to their recovery. When a patient continues to experience pain, even after their chiropractic visit, your visual and auditory explanation of the reasons behind this will go a long way toward ensuring that patients return to continue treatment and move into a pain-free situation.

Finally, using models and charts enhances the quality of your patient’s relationship and office environment. Patients are better able to explain their own pain locations to you through the use of a model, and even remember additional issues related to the initial injury.
