If you feel like you are having pelvic pain, you may suffer from a condition called pelvic unleveling. We are Estner Injury Centers, and we can take a look at your pelvis, identifying the reason why you are experiencing pain and discomfort throughout the day. In some cases, you may only develop symptoms when you are exercising. In other cases, you may feel pain at rest. We can use adjustments and physical therapy to address the root cause of this issue, helping you improve your quality of life.
Learn more about pelvic unleveling below, and reach out to a chiropractor from our team for help.
So, what exactly is pelvic unleveling? This is a condition that is caused by an imbalance involving the muscles of the pelvis. There are lots of muscles that exert force on your pelvis in different directions. Some of the most common examples include your hamstrings, your gluteal muscles, and your hip muscles. If one set of muscles is being overpowered, you can develop something called a muscle imbalance.
Essentially, this can contribute to a functional imbalance, causing your body to use some of your pelvic muscles more than the other half. This can lead to functional issues involving your pelvis, causing pain and discomfort. It could also lead to poor posture, which can make your symptoms worse over time.
There are plenty of ways we can address an imbalance between the muscles in your pelvis. For example, we can start by taking a look at your anatomy, addressing any injuries or discrepancies that might be present. For example, you may have suffered a serious injury involving your pelvis, which might have caused some of your muscles to atrophy.
We can use manual therapy to make sure your joints, ligaments, and tendons are properly aligned. Then, we can take a look at some of the smaller muscles in the pelvis, finding ways to strengthen them. We might recommend corrective exercises that can help you straighten vulnerable muscles. Or, we can design a physical therapy program to address sore or painful areas in the pelvis.
There's also a chance that you may suffer from a pelvic imbalance due to tension in your pelvis and lower back. The muscles in your lower back contribute significantly to the stability of your pelvis, and if the muscles in your lower back are sore or tight, we can help you with that.
Then, we can help you develop a strength-building, rehabilitative exercise plan to make sure the muscles in your pelvis are put back in balance. Count on the team from Estner Injury Centers to help you.
